Portrero, San Francisco
Matt Ritchie lives and works in Castro Valley, California. He creates his art throughout the day - he’s done everything under the sun artistically, from illustration to miniature, hand drawn and painted sculptures which are currently on view in a solo show, “Confero,” at Spoke Art Gallery in San Francisco, California until August 23rd - while also working full time as a Park Ranger for the city of Fremont.
This delicate balance of work, creation and lack of sleep should be familiar to any artist and the photographs below paint a beautiful portrait of Ritchie’s devotion to his desire to create, speaking a thousand words on the nature of just what it means to be an artist. Very proud to have spent the day making these images of Zerofriends artist Matt Ritchie at work and… at work. Whether he’s a full time artist or a full time Park Ranger, the guy excels at whatever he does with 100% dedication, he’s basically just Superman all the time, no Clark Kent.
Thrilled to have one of my portraits included in the “Half the Story” show at 63 Bluxome St Gallery here in SF, see you tomorrow night!
With a solo show, “Blasphemous Nature,” opening tomorrow - Thursday, August 7th, 2014 - at Upper Playground Gallery/Fifty24PDX in Portland, Oregon, Robert Bowen has been hard at work on a new body of work featuring his futuristic, sci-fi mechanical creatures and other dream born fantasy animals - some of which even breathe fire. The imaginative and talented artist, who is also part of the Zerofriends collective, allowed photographer Shaun Roberts to take some very beautiful photographs of him at work, as well as relaxing in his studio and home.
